All monthly meetings are free to Contributing & Honorary Members unless announced otherwise in the Newsletter. 

Members are encouraged to bring a guest.

When New Canaan Public Schools have a delayed opening or cancellation, programs will be cancelled.  More information available in the monthly newsletter or contact programs@gardencenterofnewcanaan.org.  Your program ideas are welcome.

Programs for our 2007-2008 Schedule

Wednesday, October 3rd:  Welcome Back Luncheon, featuring James Dodson, author of Beautiful Madness: A Journey Through Other People’s Gardens.

Location:  Country Club of Darien, 11:30-2 PM

Annual kick-off luncheon will include talk and slideshow by award-winning columnist and author as he journeys through the humor, excitement and basic passion that consume gardeners around the world.

 Wednesday, November 7th:  Priscilla Twombly

Favorite and Underused Plants in the Garden

Location:  New Canaan Library, Adrian Lamb Room, 9:30 AM

Former owner of Twombly Nursery in Monroe will present an informative slide presentation and discussion on Favorite and Underused Plants in the Garden, also touching on deer resistant plants and the winter garden.

Tuesday, November 27:  Greens Workshop

Location:  Town Hall Auditorium, 9 AM to Noon

All members are invited to join the Garden Club of New Canaan to help create holiday decorations that will adorn Town buildings throughout the holidays.

 Wednesday, January 9th:  Dr. Susan Rubin discusses

Start Your Year Healthy

Location:  New Canaan Library, Adrian Lamb Room, 9:30 AM

Susan Rubin, a food and health expert, has a private counseling practice  in Westchester, New York which integrates whole food and healthy lifestyle with the reality of living in our busy, often chaotic lifestyle.  She will share her knowledge on global warming and organic gardening within our community, as well as creating healthy connections to good food.

Creating Beautiful Arrangements with “Shop-rite” Flowers

Location:  New Canaan Library, Adrian Lamb Room, 9:30 AM

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, London native and busy mom will demonstrate beautiful and creative arrangements that you can quickly and easily make by yourself.

 Wednesday, March 5th:  Brenda LaManna of Damsel Fly Designs

 Floral Design Today

Location:  New Canaan Library, Adrian Lamb Room, 10:30 AM (new time)

Brenda is a Global Event designer who creates virtual events for weddings, private parties, and corporate events.  She is the Top Designer for the 11 floats at the Rose Bowl Parade and the floral designer for a new Disney movie.  She will discuss the limitless boundaries of Floral Design today. This will be an interactive virtual event.

Wednesday, April 2nd:  Jane Brook Barba

Bulbs:  Classic, New and Unusual

Location:  New Canaan Library, Adrian Lamb Room, 9:30 AM

 May 7th:  Madhatter’s Tea
